Spring 2025 Preparation Guide: Get in the Know

The year is almost over, and it is time to gear up for the new semester. Some may be asking how, well that is where ‘Canes Central is here to help. Our aim is for students to focus on their academic endeavors, which can be accomplished by anticipating important events and proactively completing administrative responsibilities.
This Spring 2025 Preparation Guide is designed to provide you with the information you need to transition into the Spring semester seamlessly. Get the in the know by thoroughly reviewing the information below and acting now so you can focus on your academics from Day 1.

Charges will be populated onto the Spring 2025 bill throughout the week, and billing notices have a release date of 12/9/24. Learn more.

Click “Account Activity” to review charges and credits, and complete steps to finalize payment arrangements. Learn more.

While fee requirements vary by academic career, optional fees require timely action on behalf of students (e.g., 1/10/25 is the deadline for new Spring 2025 admits to waive the University’s health insurance plan). Learn more.

Students are automatically enrolled in the ’Canes Course Pack when they register for their courses. This enrollment will provide students with all required materials for class for one low, flat fee. Course materials will be provided to the student in a digital format, or a physical format when digital is not available. Print materials do not need to be returned at the end of the semester.

Review your cost of attendance in CaneLink to see if your tuition category reflects your actual tuition charges, and, if not, submit the 2024-2025 Grad/Law Loan Revision Request Form if you wish to pursue additional aid. Learn more.

You only need your 2023 taxes to easily submit the new FAFSA and meet this deadline! Learn more.
The 2025-2026 FAFSA application is now open, and the priority date will remain the same. Get prepared now to be able to submit in time.
Also, keep in mind that the FAFSA application has changed. Any questions that you have concerning the application, please reach out to studentaid.gov customer service for assistance.

Federal aid cannot apply to all charges without the completion of these permissions so a refund may be issued. Learn more.

Aid will be listed on the bill as anticipated until disbursement begins and/or pending documents are completed. Learn more.

Our recommendation is to leverage swap instead of waitlist because enrollment affects billing and aid. Learn more.

Review and record these important dates to meet add/drop deadlines, application for graduation deadlines, etc. Learn more.

Only persons designated by students who complete the proxy verification process can access students’ records. Learn more.

Check your UM email and, when prompted, submit your ID photo online by the 1/3/25 deadline. Learn more.
Further communication will continue weekly until photos have been submitted. Cane card pickup locations will be sent after the deadline.

Replenish your funds and treat yourself to something on-campus during Fall finals or Spring classes. Learn more.
